On today’s weekend show we talking about how whether to cut lumber that is too long for your storage

Robert wrote in with this to say:

I am adding a 3rd bay to my workshop and the breezeway is reducing my lumber storage to only 9-foot lengths. I have a dozen or so 12-foot boards of maple & cherry. Is it a bad idea to cut these (and all future) boards down to 9-foot to fit. I currently keep about 2-3 hundred board feet in the shop.

  1. I would only cut them if you know what you will make will use the lengths your left with, (watching for other suggestions)
